Ford F-150 vs. Ram 1500: Which Full-Size Truck Has the Upper Hand?
One of the best things about a full-size pickup truck is its versatility. Today's pickups are just as good for family trips as they are for pulling hefty trailers. However, one truck has managed to stay ahead of the pack for towing, hauling, and innovation - the new Ford F-150. The new Ram 1500 comes close, but it can't match the F-150's overall excellence. At Ciocca Ford of Red Lion, we developed the following comparison to explain why.

Power
You need a powerful truck to get the added oomph for passing on the highway. The new Ford F-150's twin-turbocharged V6 base engine generates 325 horsepower. Three other engines are available, including a 430-horsepower hybrid powertrain.
The new Ram 1500's standard V6 only produces 305 horsepower. The Ram 1500 only offers three engines, and a full hybrid powertrain is not available.
Capabilities
Many people choose trucks because of their towing and hauling capabilities. The new Ford F-150 has some of the highest towing and payload capacities in its class. When properly equipped, the F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds. It can also carry up to 2,455 pounds of payload with the right configuration.
The new Ram 1500 has a maximum tow rating of just 11,610 pounds. The most weight it can haul is 2,360 pounds.

Each trim comes standard with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system that's attractive, intuitive, and a cinch to operate. The F-150's available Pro Power Onboard system acts as a mobile generator, ideal for running power tools or area lights for worksites, camping, or tailgating parties.
The new Ram 1500's standard touchscreen is only 8.4 inches long. It doesn't offer an onboard generator.
