No matter what trim level you choose, the 2022 Ford EcoSport comes equipped with many standard safety features to help ensure secure travel. In addition to head restraints and three-point seat belts for every occupant, the standard features include:

  • Dual-Stage Air Bags: On both the driver and the front passenger sides, air bags deploy in front, from behind, and in the canopy in the event of a collision.

  • Additional Air Bags: The front row features knee air bags for both the driver and the passenger, while both rows feature side air bags as well. Additionally, Ford's Safety Canopy system deploys side-curtain air bags between an occupant's head and the side window.

  • Belt-Minder: If any of the vehicle's occupants neglects to fasten their seat belt, the Belt-Minder alerts them.

  • Brake Assist: The brake assist feature helps to minimize stopping distances by upping the braking efficiency when you brake heavily.

  • LATCH System: LATCH stands for "lower anchors and tether anchors for children." This system allows you to easily attach and secure child-safety seats.

  • Individual Tire Pressure Monitoring System: If the pressure in any of your tires drops below a certain threshold, the tire pressure monitoring system lets you know.

  • MyKey Technology: Ford's MyKey technology lets you program spare keys in such a way that restricts driving modes. If you have a family member learning how to drive, this feature can help promote safe, sensible driving habits.

  • SOS Post-Crash Alert System: Should an accident occur, the SOS Post-Crash Alert System automatically activates the vehicle's emergency flashers and sounds the horn, helping to draw attention and attract help.

  • SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System: The SecuriLock system involves a coded key programmed to your EcoSport. If anyone tries to start your vehicle without the coded key, the system immobilizes the engine.

Ford Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive

Aside from the standard safety features noted above, one of the technologies common to the EcoSport at all trim levels is the Ford Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive system. This means every EcoSport comes equipped with an advanced drivetrain system that monitors data relating to you, your vehicle's performance, and the environment during every second of operation. The system analyzes data relating to factors such as:

  • Your acceleration rate.

  • Your driving behavior.

  • The angle of your steering wheel.

  • The speed at which your wheels turn.

  • The pedal position of your accelerator.

  • Road conditions.

With this data, Ford Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive knows to redistribute the torque to keep the vehicle on the road and performing optimally. Say, for instance, you find yourself on a muddy or rocky surface. The system will sense the terrain change and adjust the torque distribution so you can handle these conditions more easily.

Ford Co-Pilot360

Another bit of tech you'll find in every 2022 EcoSport is Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of driver-assistance features that help to take the stress out of driving. At every trim level, this includes:

  • Hill Start Assist: The Hill Start Assist feature works in conjunction with the standard anti-lock braking system to keep your vehicle stationary for up to two seconds as you transfer your foot from the brake to the accelerator. Should you be parked on a hill, you can rest assured that you won't roll backward.

  • Rearview Camera: The standard rearview camera activates when you put EcoSport in reverse, displaying on the console screen a clear look at anything behind the vehicle. As you back out of your driveway or a parking spot, the rearview camera removes some of the multitasking inherent to the task.

Starting at the next trim level up, the EcoSport SE, the Co-Pilot360 suite comes equipped with both of the above as well as:

  • Rear Parking Sensors: The rear parking sensors add an extra layer of security when you reverse your vehicle. If you come too close to an object, the system emits a series of warning beeps, which sound more rapidly the closer you get to the object.

  • Available Blind-Spot Information System (BLIS) With Cross-Traffic Alert: The BLIS alerts you when there are vehicles in your blind spot, and the cross-traffic alert identifies vehicles as you reverse. If you opt in for this optional feature, you won't have to worry so much about objects in your proximity.

Finally, the SES and Titanium trims come standard with an additional Co-Pilot360 feature: front rain-sensing wipers. These activate automatically when the system detects moisture on your windshield — another safety-minded detail that helps to reduce the mental load on the driver.

Vehicle Safety Coverage

Every purchase of a new Ford EcoSport comes with numerous manufacturer warranties so you get the most value for your buck. Aside from the ordinary bumper-to-bumper, powertrain, and engine coverage, you have the protection of two additional warranties concerning vehicle safety.

One is the Safety Restraint System Warranty, which relates to the seat belts and air bags installed on your EcoSport. This warranty is good for the first five years or 60,000 miles of ownership. The other is the Corrosion Warranty. While many owners may view corrosion as a purely cosmetic issue, it can easily spread to the inner workings of a vehicle and compromise its structure. With the Corrosion Warranty — good for five years, with no mileage limit — you can conveniently rid your EcoSport of any such compromising damage.

Of course, if you ever need to take advantage of these warranties, you can get in touch with our Ford Service Center at Apple Ford of Red Lion. Our trained technicians have the knowledge and expertise necessary to keep your Ford vehicle running as it should.
